Locks Compatible with Sliding Doors

Doors and windows are as much part of interior decoration design as much as other furniture like tables and sofas. They serve a higher purpose than just decoration; they ensure safety too. It then becomes very important to ensure that the sliding door lock is safe enough to ensure security to the house. Only latches might not do on a sliding door. One might need to get a proper lock to ensure highest security. It then becomes important to know which lock is compatible with the sliding door.

•    Material of the sliding door
The first thing to understand and know before looking at compatible sliding door locks is that the lock will depend on the material with which the sliding door is made. This means that different sliding door locks will be needed for aluminum and timber sliding doors and different ones will be needed for plastic based sliding doors. So, here it becomes important to know the material of your sliding door before you venture out to buy sliding door lock.

•    Eight lever locks
Now there are several kinds of door locks which could be compatible for the sliding door. The best locks are the ones which have eight levers in them. This ensures that no one will be able to break in by using curved hairpin because the lock has eight levers which need to be precisely fit to open the lock. Eight lever also allows greater penetration which the hairpin will never be able to break. Duplication of an eight-lever lock key is also a bit difficult. The eight-lever lock is also quite compatible with the sliding door.

•    Electromagnetic door locks
Now there are other kinds of door locks available as well. One can also go for an electromagnetic door lock. It can either be manually used or through a remote control. There is no residual magnetism which means it is harmless. It guards and prevents unauthorized visitors from gaining entry inside the house. A 12 volt power supply is required to keep the lock working. In case of power failure, the locks will open. So for effective use of this lock, one should get the fail secure feature in addition to the electromagnetic door lock. One can also ensure safety by providing constant power to the lock to prevent security failure during the time of power cut. This electromagnetic door lock is very compatible with sliding doors and many users are already using it because of superb security results it has.

•    Other ordinary locks
There are other locks as well which are compatible with sliding doors. These include the seven lever door locks. One can also use a door handle lock for the sliding door. If the primary purpose of the sliding door is not security then one can also use a simple latch lock for the sliding doors which is very compatible with it. There are also timer door locks available which can be used on the sliding doors but it is important to buy fail safe latches for emergency situations. If you buy sliding door locks of the kinds mentioned above, it will help you to keep your house safe and trendy.

So, which one are you planning to buy?
